The first Farmer2Market training workshop took place on 28 February 2019 at Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in West Rand Johannesburg.
Farming solution is an app that shows a farmer how they can farm better and according to local Gap standards.
Key to the success of the project is engaging with stakeholders and keeping good relations. Our farmers are their farmers.
Capturing farmer's details into the Farmer2market database using an application OKD. This application takes the location of the farmer and details of the farmer.
Officials Gap Training
Local Gap training for officials in Peddie. A small cluster with four farms producing vegetables mostly spinach and cabbage which they sell to informal markets.
The EU along with Department of Environment affairs and Solidaridad visited 4 farmers in the OR Tambo District, Eastern Cape. 3 farmers from Mthatha and one farmer from Port St Johns.
Siyakhana, UJ Peets and Solidaridad teamed up and visited the three schools which are in the integrated schools project by Siyakhana, where solutions were discussed.
European Union Farm Visits
The European Union, along with the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) and Solidaridad visited two farms in the Putfontein area, Gauteng Province.
